I'll definitely look out for more of Caroline's books

Back fence talk & other vices was a difficult to put down once I started reading. Though short-lived, each of the stories had a great build-up and suspense to itch for the next page. For instance, I had to do a sneak peak at the end just hoping that Hawa didn't kill herself. I had quite a relief to find her alive there! Caroline has employed with great wit the use of stylistic devices and humor, while bringing out even the phrases used in native languages to the forefront, like when Sergeant Gatwiri curses "mai!" , & I just read "shit!" hahaha! Great book to read again and again!

Didn't put it down

I found this book very captivating and yet somewhat relatable. The authors literary devices pull in, making it easy to see myself as all the different characters. Loved it. Will keep my eyes open for more of her work!

Epistles Story

This book (a collection of stories) was written in Spain over a period of four years during which the author was pursuing her PhD. I can't stop thinking about the Epistles story. Maybe I'm book hangovered. Hawa had planned her suicide in detail, she even went to church and said 10 Hail Mary's wow! Maybe somedays you pray because it's a habit, imagine that day she found purpose to live. WOW 😱
