Honourable Criminals
. Ambayisi Namale was born in Kakamega in West Kenya in 1952. He attended Kakamega High School and later enrolled for
a B.A. course in Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. Namale was among a group of Kenyan students who were suddenly
forced to abandon their programmes in Makerere following the abduction and hitherto mysterious disappearance of the
Kenyan girl, Esther Chesire, under the misrule of dictator Idi Amin. Subsequently, Namale completed his undergraduate course in Sociology and Social Psychology at the University of Nairobi. Namale is also the holder of an M.A. degree from
Nairobi. He has worked for the Kenya Posts and Telecommunications Corporation and currently works for a leading bank in
Nairobi. He is married with five children.
Honourable Criminal is a trenchant portrait of a sick and sickening society camouflaged under a thin cloak of decency
and respectability. Namale poignantly captures the beguiling whims and intrigues that have shaped the running of African public institutions and the resounding fiasco that is electoral politics in Africa today.
