Let Her Be
by Goro Kamau
Let Her Be tells of tribulations of a young Maasai girl held in between a world full of promises and traditional practices that hinder her energised venture into the 'promised' land. Sanare, like many girls her age, is betrothed to a moran just as she gets proper grounding in her schooling. Mother and daughter do not dare to convince Father—after all, authority and direction for family affairs are not to be discussed with women!
However, where there is a will, there is a way..., goes the adage. Does Sanare find a way out?
