Njogu the Prophet

The "Invisible Masters" choose Njogu to become their messenger. They force him to obey them by taking him to the house of the dead, threatening to leave him there if he refuses to do as they say. Njogu's problem is to make people obey the orders of the "invisible Masters". Some fear him, others think he is mad or greedy. They do not believe him when he foretells a future event. The result of disobedience leads to tragedy. However, his wife thinks he is lazy and stupid and tells him he only goes on his long journeys as an excuse for not working in the shamba. Never-the-less, Njogu carries on working faithfully for the "Invisible Masters" until he is an old man. it is only at the end of his life that his wife believes in his work and the chief -of the village publicly thanks him for helping to destroy cruelty and evil among his people.
