Gladys K. Mwiti, PhD is a Consulting Clinical Psychologist, Founder and CEO Oasis Africa Center for Transformational 
Psychology & Trauma. She is a published author and public speaker. She obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the 
Graduate School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA in the USA, a Masters degree in Christian 
Leadership from Fuller's Graduate School of Theology: a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and a Bachelors degree in 
Psychology both from the United States International University, Africa in Nairobi; and an Approved Diploma in Education 
from Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya.
In 1990, together with her husband Dr. Gershon Mwiti, Leadership Consultant, she founded Oasis Africa Center for 
Transformational Psychology & Trauma, a pan-African professional organization that is shaping counselling and psychology 
in Kenya and the region. Their Oasis Africa psychological clinic serves many needy clients. They also have an active training 
program in applied transformational psychology and applied leadership for organizations, companies and churches,
Besides journal articles, Dr. Gladys Mwiti has authored five books. She is the current Chairperson of the Kenya Psychological Association (KPA); 
Chairperson of the Kenya Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, member of the Board of Trustees for the Kenya Methodist University (KEMU), member of the 
American Psychological Association (APA); Member of the Board of Directors for the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS): Lausanne Movement 
Co-Chair for Global Mental Health and Trauma Response, Chair of Council, Cooperative University of Kenya; and member, Executive Committee for the Association of Governing 
Councils for Kenyan Universities and University Colleges
In recognition of her work, Dr. Mwiti has received several International Awards, the latest being the February 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award by Fuller Seminary's 
Graduate School of Psychology. She is married to Dr. Gershon Mwiti, a Leadership Consultant, CEO and Founder, Leadership Institute of Kenya (LIKA). They have four young adults.
