book review

“The Alchemist[1]” is an international bestseller I had high hopes from the book being it a ‘life changing book’ but it turned out to be based only on beliefs and fiction. I could hardly find any logic and connection with reality which disappointed me. It uses powerful quotes which indeed are pleasing and worth reading which I think gave it a place in international bestseller. The book's main theme is about finding one's destiny. It is story of a shepherd boy who follows his dream of finding treasure in Egyptian pyramids. In his way, he learns to observe omens, listens to his heart, finds his love, understands language of Universe and finally finds the treasure (his destiny). The book talks about omens and language of Universe which are hard to look in real world and thus I don’t consider the book to be among ‘life-changing books’. It uses quotes like “what you seek is seeking you”, “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it” which I don’t agree with. In the end, if you want to read a fiction book with some pleasing quotes (though away from reality), you may read this book. There are of-course things to learn from it but don’t try to connect it with real world and logic else you may end up getting irritated of this book.
