Samburu and Buffalo Springs are less popular destinations for tourists on safari in Kenya, they are by no means as busy as the Masai Mara or Amboseli. Samburu and Buffalo Springs are adjacent to each other and protect the tracts of riverine forest along the Ewaso Nyiro River. The region is very arid, but despite this the reserves have a surprising amount of wildlife. The pastoralist Samburu people also live around the reserve and their animals such as cattle and goats can often be seen inside the reserve.
