Paper one consists of three questions and it is marked out of 60 marks.

Question one (functional writing) requires appropriate and clear format, grammatical competence (avoiding grammatical errors) and points which are fully brought out. Instructions given in the question should guide learners on the content (body) of the test item. Students are expected to get more than 15 out of 20 marks to be in a position to score 40 marks and above.

The second question (cloze test) is marked out of 10 marks, candidates should fill the blank spaces using the most appropriate word (one word). The test is on parts of speech, spelling, tense, register, vocabulary and one’s understanding of a passage.

Question three (oral skills) which is marked out of 30 marks, test a range of things that we do and how they should be done: pronunciation, etiquette and any other as brought out in this book. It is mandatory to illustrate your answers. Some questions require personal involvement: I would.....
