End of the Beginning

End of the Beginning is set in a Kikuyu village after the 'Mau Mau' Emergency. A mother cannot forget the loss of her son in "the troubles". Her personal sorrow, set in the tribulation of a people, is a beautifully worked out theme in this most effective piece of theatre. This is certainly one of the most accomplished examples of play writing yet to come out of Africa.
